SLIPO Kickof Meeting in Athens

SLIPO had its kickoff meeting in Athens! For two days (January 19-20, 2017), IMIS welcomed all project partners in the heart of Athens, to set the foundations for three years of extremely interesting collaboration and work.

The meeting was the first opportunity for most project members to meet in person, share their experiences in open data and geospatial data management, identify common research goals, as well as development directions.

The first day was a chance for everyone to focus again on the goals and ideas behind the SLIPO project. After a first introduction of the six partners, our Work Package leaders took turns and presented the planned work, deliverables, and time-frame of each Work Package. This allowed the R&D partners to present their background and existing integration tools that will be extended in SLIPO and the business partners to present their use cases and describe their needs and priorities with respect to POI data integration.

During the second day, our discussion focused around the architecture of the SLIPO Workbench, resulting to a first specification of the major software components, dependencies, and development priorities for SLIPO. In parallel, we conducted a thorough discussion on planning SLIPO use cases and pilots. In particular, we concluded to a draft plan, including the datasets that will be provided by each partner, the aspects of SLIPO that are of higher business value for each partner and the respective Key Performance Indicators.

A brainstorming session followed where all participants gave their individual comments, insight and ideas on how we can leverage our work in SLIPO.

Finally, the meeting ended with a rendez-vous for Vienna, Austria!
